All eyes on Yuri as Phal Dessai’s Cuncolim plans stir speculation

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MAY 04, 2024, 01:06 AM IST

Has Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao anything to say over Social Welfare Minister Subhashbab Phal Dessai’s plans to enter Cuncolim in a big way? That Subhashbab unveiled his plans right in the presence of Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant during the Lok Sabha campaign has only left tongues wagging whether the Social Welfare Minister has firmly set his eyes on Cuncolim in the 2027 Assembly election. Take note, both Subhashbab and Yuribab had cross swords against each other in the 2012 Assembly polls in Sanguem, with the result going in favour of the Sanguem MLA. Wait and watch how Subhashbab will go about in Cuncolim after the Lok Sabha polls.

Churchill’s flip flop on support to LS candidates raises eyebrows

It was a week when Varca strongman Bab Churchill came under the scanner of Benaulikars. Reason: After maintaining silence over his support for the Lok Sabha candidates, the former MLA finally spoke his mind, but in the bargain courted a controversy of sorts. Call it a flip flop or not, Churchillbab unveiled plans to vote for Congress candidate Captain Viriatbab Fernandes. The next day a section of the media carried a news item alleging that Churchillbab has extended his support to Pallavibai Dempo, leaving political observers to wonder how come the former Benaulim MLA has changed his stance within 24 hours. Interesting, isn’t it.

Captains pact: Venzy stands firm behind Viriato amidst attacks

The ongoing election campaign for the May 7 Lok Sabha elections has seen a Merchant Navy captain strongly rallying behind an ex-Navy captain. Indeed, Benaulim Aam Aadmi Party MLA, Captain Venzybab Viegas has been a source of strength for INDIA bloc candidate Captain Viriatbab Fernandes throughout the ongoing election campaign. As curtains are set to come down on the election campaign, marked by attacks directed against the retired Naval Captain, Venzybab may realise that he too had to face barbs from opponents over his background as a captain of the Merchant Navy.

Hopes on ‘Vitamin M’ as Cong star campaigners skip Goa turf

Local Congress leaders seemed to have resigned to their fate after news trickled in that star party campaigners, associated with the Gandhi family, may not make it to Goa for campaigning. Leave alone the star campaigners, local Congress leaders seemed hoping against hope that at least the much needed Vitamin M is arranged right on time. A party leader in private reminded that Vitamin M plays a crucial role at the fag-end of an election campaign, more so when the rivals are flushed with funds. Wait and watch.

Radharao garners support for Viriato with humorous appeal

Political commentator Adv Radharaobab Gracias has been at his usual best during the ongoing campaign in his support to Congress candidate Captain Viriatbab Fernandes. Known for wit and humour, Radharaobab makes an appeal to the people not to split votes by voting for the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP). Instead, he drives homes the point that people should vote for RG and not for the RGP. Guess which RG Radharaobab is talking about. Well, the RG he is talking about is none other than Radharao Gracias in Goa and Rahul Gandhi (RG) in Delhi. Any takers?
