Congress Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao’s insistence of an alignment before forging alliances with like-minded parties makes interesting reading and throws up several questions. Did Dinesh mean to say that like-minded parties should have a proper pre-poll alignment before they join hands to unitedly fight the polls? And, what exactly did Dinesh mean when he spoke about the party’s past mistakes. Is this admission anything to do with the party’s failure to get the regional players on board to support the Congress-led government in 2017 for want of an alignment before the polls? Questions indeed remain unanswered.
Cong-GF alliance talks on the right track?
Both the Congress and Goa Forward party leaders in private say alliance talks between the two parties have been progressing satisfactorily so far. In fact, sources say the Congress may finally leave six Assembly seats for the regional player in 2022. That brings to the fore the moot question why the two parties have still not gone to the public with announcements on alliance. Or, is it that the two parties want the alliance talks to be ratified by none other than Congress…
