Both the Congress and Goa Forward party leaders in private say alliance talks between the two parties have been progressing satisfactorily so far. In fact, sources say the Congress may finally leave six Assembly seats for the regional player in 2022. That brings to the fore the moot question why the two parties have still not gone to the public with announcements on alliance. Or, is it that the two parties want the alliance talks to be ratified by none other than Congress leader Rahul Gandhi before it is made public. December 19 may finally clear the air, sources say. Many questions indeed remain unanswered.
TMC & Luizinho have uphill task ahead
Will Mamata Didi’s decision to nominate Luizinhbab Faleiro to Rajya Sabha help shore up the TMC’s prospects in the run up to the Goa polls? Well, sources say the TMC must be hoping that Luizinhbab’s appointment may help the party win goodwill and create a feel good factor amongst Goans ahead of 2022. It still isn’t clear how the party intends to go about the ensuing polls. For, the TMC had initially announced to contest in all the 40 seats. Then came Mamata Didi’s call to the regional players to join hands with her party. Are there any takers amongst the regional players for Didi’s offer?
All eyes on TMC’s nominee for Navelim
Luizinhbab Faleiro’s nomination as Rajya Sabha MP by TMC may throw up a question “ who will be the TMC nominee for the Navelim seat in 2022. Since he quit the Congress to embrace Mamata Didi’s party, speculations were rife whether Luizinhbab would lead the TMC battle in his home turf. His nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat has now brought to the fore the moot question who will be Luizinhbab’s preferred nominee in Navelim “ his son Ravi or any one amongst his close aides. He has all along brushed aside this question saying the candidate will be decided via consultations. Wait and watch.
Congress wooing Cipru Cardozo?
Is the Congress on the job to woo three-time Navelim Zilla Panchayat member Ciprubab Cardozo to embrace the party? A section of Congress leaders seemed weighing various options in Navelim after Luizinhbab Faleiro’s exit. The party was quick to induct goalkeeper-turned-politician to join the party after Luizinhbab’s exit. It isn’t clear whether the Congress leaders are wooing Ciprubab to block him from embracing the TMC. For, the three-time ZP member had initially evinced interest in contesting the polls on the TMC banner. Any questions?
NCP sets eyes on Nuvem for youth leader
Why do a section of Congress leaders from Nuvem believe that the NCP is making discreet moves to stake claim for the Nuvem seat? Well, Nuvem-based leaders, including Eversonbab Vales are believed to have alerted party leaders over the reported moves in the NCP camp to demand the Nuvem seat for the party. It is speculated that a NCP leader has set his eyes on Nuvem seat, not for a sitting or former MLA, but for a youth leader, who had been reportedly close to a host of Ministers in the past. Interesting, isn’t it?
