Last time round when P Chidambaram was down in Goa, he and Goa Desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao had a meeting with Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai to discuss the contentious issue of alliance. PC is back in Goa, but it’s unclear whether he would hold another round of meeting with the Goa Forward chief to discuss the issue. Last time, the Goa Forward chief had reportedly reminded PC that one should not shift the goalposts to score goals when the Congress was willing to offer the regional outfit just three seats. Wait and watch whether PC has any plan to take the talks forward.
CM wooing Reginaldo’s opponents?
Hazard a guess where did Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant head after partaking in the birthday celebrations of party ST leader Anthonybab Barbosa on the Manora-Raia grounds earlier this week. Well, sources said the CM did not return back to Panaji nor did he head to Sanquelim immediately after the function. He is believed to have headed to Curtorim village, where he reportedly went in a huddle with a group, perceived in local circles as opponents of Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco. What transpired at the meeting remains unknown, but the CM’s presence in Reginaldbab’s fiefdom has only raised many an eyebrow. Any takers?
Girish ‘yes’ to alliance, but ‘no’ to family raj
GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar seemed to have no issue if the Congress stitches an alliance with the NCP to fight the ensuing Goa polls. He and a section of the party, however, are vehemently opposed to any move by Sharad Pawar-headed party to field any of the 10 defectors on the clock symbol. That’s not all. The GPCC chief is believed to have conveyed a message loud and clear that the Congress will not sit quite and watch if any attempt is made by the NCP to promote family raj. Has Varca strongman Bab Churchill any answer? Wait and watch.
Jose Philip sets eyes on Dabolim constituency
NCP chief Josebab Philip is believed to have conveyed to his Congress counterpart Girishbab Chodankar that he is keen in contesting the 2022 polls from Dabolim. He is also believed to have conveyed the same decision to his party bosses as well as top Congress leaders. Reason. The former Vasco MLA feels that a sizeable chunk of his voters are now part of Dabolim constituency post-delimitation. The Congress, however, seemed to have not yet given any signal to leave Dabolim for the NCP chief, more so when Capt Viriatbab is bracing up for a surgical strike in Dabolim in 2022. Wait and watch.
Avertano keeping Cong flag high in Navelim
Post-exit of Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro from the Congress, footballer-turned-politician Avertanbab Furtado has kept the Congress flag flying high in Navelim. Sources said when the party leadership got the local leaders to mobilise workers for Rahul Gandhi’s rally, Avertanbab did not let down his leaders. Sources said the former Minister arranged a fleet of buses to ferry local workers to Bambolim. GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar and district Chief Joebab Dias seemed very much pleased with the workers’ turnout from Navelim. Any questions?
