Dempo Sports Club beat Vasco Sports Club 3-1 to cruise into the semifinals of the 17th Goa Police Cup football tournament, organised by Goa Police SC Sports Cell, at Rosary ground, Navelim on Saturday.
Dempo led by two goals at the breather. They entirely dominated the first half as Alber Gonsalves gave Golden Eagles the lead in the 33rd minute with neat placement. Latesh Mandrekar doubled the advantage for Dempo in the third minute of the injury time before the break.
Kuldeep Kumar pulled a goal back for Vasco in the 79th minute while Dempo made the issue safer with their third goal through Gaurav Vaigankar in the 81st minute. Dempo skipper Darell Mascarenhas was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
In another match at PVC Parra ground, FC Goa defeated Sesa FA 3-1 to also move into the semifinals.
Ribbon Fernandes opened the scoreline for Sesa FA in the 7th minute but FC Goa responded with three goals through Vasim Inamdar, Brison Fernandes and Lalremruata HP in the 24th, 43rd and 45+1 minutes respectively.
