GUILHERME ALMEIDA
State BJP President Damubab Naik’s body language appeared to be doing much of the talking about the party’s plans for Fatorda, the constituency represented by his arch political rival and Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. While Damubab confidently declared that the Lotus would bloom in Fatorda in 2027, he left party workers, scribes and political observers guessing whether he himself would enter the electoral fray. His gestures and demeanour, however, seemed to suggest that he has no intention of letting his political adversary have an easy ride in Fatorda—whether he contests or not. Wait and watch.

Plan B or political gamble?
Girish's big test in Fatorda
How will the Congress approach Fatorda if talks between Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and Congress leaders over a merger or alliance come to nothing? Barring the 2022 Assembly election, the Congress had fielded candidates against Vijaibab Sardesai, but those efforts have had little impact on the Goa Forward Party chief’s electoral prospects. With newly appointed Goa Congress president Girishbab Chodankar also hailing from Fatorda, will the party have a Plan B in place to take on Vijaibab should the Congress-Goa Forward talks fail. Wait and watch.

Kamat's Janata Darbar fuels
talk of poll preparations
The resumption of the Janata Darbar by PWD Minister Digambarbab Kamat may provide Madgavkars with a platform to seek redressal of their grievances. Sources, however, say the exercise could also serve another purpose—helping his close aides and loyalists, many of whom are eyeing the upcoming municipal polls, enhance their visibility alongside their political mentor. In fact, a couple of probable candidates from the Kamat camp were prominently spotted at the Darbar. You know why? Any questions?

Churchill's meeting with Kharge
in Delhi shrouded in mystery
Where is Varca strongman Churchillbab?” Is a question doing the rounds in political circles, particularly after his recent visit to Delhi, where he met Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge earlier this month. Journalists have been eager to learn what transpired during the meeting. What is interesting, however, is that Churchillbab has long returned from the national capital and is comfortably back at his Varca residence, yet has remained tight-lipped about the discussions. Any guesses why? Wait and watch.

Yuri's silence on Churchill's meet
with Kharge raises questions
Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao has maintained a studied silence on uncle Churchillbab Alemao’s courtesy call on Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Nor has he commented on cousin Warrenbab Alemao’s assertion that he remains firmly committed to the Congress ideology. The silence has inevitably raised questions about how Yuribab would respond if called upon to express his views on the matter. Will the Leader of Opposition—who now heads the Congress Campaign Committee—simply reiterate that party workers must abide by decisions taken by the leadership, much as he did during the Amit Patkar removal episode? Wait and watch.
