Social Welfare Minister and Sanguem MLA Subhashbab Phaldessai’s suspicion on foreign funding of the anti-IIT agitation at Sanguem makes reading interesting. For a moment, the Minister’s statement threw up a host of questions, how Subhashbab reached the conclusion that the anti-IIT agitation is funded from abroad and whether the government is in receipt of intelligence that foreign forces are behind the stir. In the bargain, Subhashbab may have to face a pointed question from Niz Goemkars “ whether the anti-IIT agitation at Melaulim was also funded from abroad and whether the government had buckled under pressure to foreign forces before scrapping the Melaulim site for the proposed IIT. Sounds interesting, isn’t it?
Now in BJP, will this trio take up cudgels for anti-coal protestors?
It would be three months now since the eight Congress Legislators embraced the saffron brigade. Diggu, Aleixobab Sequeira and Sankalpbab Amonkar may have a simple question to answer “ have they at any time during the last three months raised the issue of coal hub and track doubling project with the BJP top leadership. The trio were in the forefront of the anti-coal agitation at Chandor on November 1-2, 2020. They were lucky to escape criminal cases against them, but activists question whether they will take up cudgels for the anti-coal protestors. Wait and watch.
All eyes on Luizinho & his plan to divert MPLAD funds from Bengal
Guess why there’s speculation that the ongoing winter session of Parliament may be the last session of the TMC Rajya Sabha MP from Goa, Luizinhbab Faleiro. Speculation has been rife that Luizinhbab may not remain a member of the Rajya Sabha till the monsoon session and may be in Parliament till the Budget session. Luizinhbab too has repeatedly declined to comment on these speculations. Wait and watch whether Luizinhbab will take a call on his future after the Centre clears his proposal to divert the MPLAD funds from Bengal to his home village Navelim to build a memorial in honour of Fr Francis Luis Gomes.
When Cabral questioned delay in sewerage works over the years
This may make reading interesting. Every time PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral descends in Saxttidom, he does not stop reminding that sewerage works in Margao and neighbouring areas have been pending over the last 8-9 years. He does not cite the reason for the huge delays, but questions are being asked who’s responsible for the delay in executing the sewerage works; was no political will to get the contractors expedite the works as per the deadline set in the work orders and why were the projects dragged on for years. Indeed, many a question on Margao sewerage project remains unanswered.
Some welcome Kamat’s Margao plan, say better late than never
Better late than never, so goes the saying. When Diggu unveiled plans to prepare a master plan for Margao, opponents wondered what had stopped the seven-time Margao MLA to put in place such a plan over the last 28 years when he presided over the reigns of the city since 1994. Opponents wonder whether there’s anything left to plan now with the city almost reaching a point of saturation. Others welcomed the Master plan, saying it’s better late than never. Any takers?
