Chef Brainard Colaco, the brain behind Mog café, owned andsuccessfully ran restaurants across Mumbai besides being at the helm of ‘Mocha’before setting up shop in Goa.
“I was born and brought in Mumbai and took to hotelmanagement since my grades were low. After a basic catering course and adiploma in hotel management, I worked with the Pritish Nandy group but duringmy 8-years time at Mocha where I headed the coffee chain, I did my fair shareof ideating and following a stint at French Loaf, I decided to create somethingdifferent specially in desserts,” said Brainard.
Speaking about the Konkani name for a café that has a Frenchpatisserie style and a very continental menu, Brainard said, “I thought of alot of hip names like Mixed, Bazinga and many more. But I went with Mog as itmeans love and we have a wall in the café that spells love in over twentydifferent languages.”
This store for Brainard is a total DIY store where he hascreated shelves with his grandfather’s old belts, lamps from cookie jars andread information on Google to paint the bricks with linseed oil.
“Mog is a fun dessert brand that would always try pushingthe envelope in offering Goa trendy cakes. We would try baking memories through the cakes we design and leave a lasting craving for more Cake on the Palate,” says Brainard.
