Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s message that the party chief ministerial candidate will not be a raja (king), but one who listens to the people’s voice, has become a subject matter of debate in the Congress. The Congress did not go to the Goa Assembly election with a chief ministerial candidate. Rahul’s message that the Congress CM will not be a raja, however, is being interpreted in the Kamat camp as an endorsement of his candidature for the post. They recall that Kamat has a history of attending to phone calls even at the dead of the night during his stint as CM in 2007-12.
