Prashant coming, this time with new Goa plans!

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | OCTOBER 16, 2021, 11:45 PM IST

THE TWO-DAY ensuing session may turn out the last session of the current five-year term of the Goa Legislative Assembly. The end of the session, many believe, may turn out the beginning of the battle for the 2022 Assembly polls. Political observers are keenly watching the movements of Mamata Didi’s Trinamool Congress. Sources say poll strategist Prashant Kishor is likely to visit the state mid-next week, this time with fresh ideas and new plans for Goa. Will Didi follow suit before Diwali? Wait and watch.

In praise of GF supremo, but not from party

THE CONGRESS leadership may have been going slow in taking a call on Goa Forward offer for an alliance to unitedly fight the 2022 polls. A close aide of Opposition leader Digambar and Margao Municipal vice-Chairperson Deepalibai Sawal, however, has openly batted for the Goa Forward chief, not only for his reelection, but for the post of Chief Minister. Deepalibai’s speech at the Dusshera programme hosted by the Goa Forward chief at his residence on Friday has gone viral on the social media.  Has GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar anything to say on the episode?

Will the Congress nominate seamen this time?

WITH EYES on the crucial seamen vote in Saxttidom and outside, the Congress apparently invited a delegation of seafarers for a tete-a-tete with Congress observer P Chidambaram. The delegation led by GSAI president Frankbab Viegas highlighted the issues plaguing the seafarer community and sought to know whether the Congress has any answer to their issues. PC may have offered solutions but has the Congress any answer to the request for nominating seafarers in the ensuing polls. Wait and watch as Chidambaram is believed to have insisted on the winnability factor in deciding tickets.

Luizinho or his son from Navelim? Keep guessing

WHO'S THE TMC candidate for the Navelim Assembly seat? Pose the question to Luizinhbab Faleiro and the veteran says consultations are still underway with his close aides, workers and supporters on the Navelim seat. It isn’t clear whether Luizinhbab is keen in seeking re-election from Navelim in 2022 or has any plans to bring in son Ravibab Faleiro, who had recently embraced the TMC along with his father. Wait and watch as Luizinhbab has left ticket aspirants and candidates for Navelim guessing.

Expect to hear Neri’s poll plans on his birthday

IS ANYTHING lining up on Saxtti’s lone Minister, Filipe Neribab’s birthday on October 19? Workers and supporters of the Velim MLA may certainly expect the minister to unveil his plans for 2022. With the two-day Assembly session beginning on Monday, the Velim MLA may be preoccupied with the Assembly matters.

One thing, however, is becoming crystal clear -- the four-time Velim MLA will be in the fray in the ensuing polls. The only question left to be unanswered is on which party banner. Any questions?
