Sonia booster for Goa Congress next month!

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MAY 30, 2021, 01:17 AM IST

Has the Congress leadership headed by its President Sonia Gandhi any plan in place to put the Goa Congress house in order. Well, after a long, long time, indications emanating from the national capital speak about the party leadership taking serious note of the party affairs in Goa. Though it isn’t clear how the party will go about in Goa, sources do not rule out Madam Gandhi taking interest in the Goa Congress in the coming days. Is that the reason why some Congressmen in private say that party top functionaries may descend on Goa around mid-June? Wait and watch.

What cooked at Digambar-Vijai meet?

Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai has come under public scanner over MMC chairperson’s election episode. Many are still trying to figure out whether Vijaibab had insisted on having his man in the hot seat even after alliance partner Digambar Kamat wanted the post for his camp, or whether he saved the day for Digambar after the Opposition leader came under fire from his Congress camp for conceding the post to the Goa Forward without staking any claim? For the moment, the duo has decided to move forward, but many a question still remains unanswered.

Churchill proposes, Sawant disposes

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant virtually came to the rescue of Varca strongman Bab Churchill by sanctioning doctors and nurses for the proposed Covid care centre at Colva. Churchillbab had proposed two Covid care centres at Colva and Varca in Benaulim constiuency, While a Covid care centre set up by a group of individuals had started functioning at the Benaulim Church hall, Churchillbab’s care centres could not take off for want of healthcare workers, prompting an anxious Churchillbab to knock the CM’s door for doctors and nurses. You know why.

If Power Minister can’t, who can?

How can an opposition MLA get the Chief Minister sanction Rs 65 crore underground cabling project when the Power Minister expressed his helplessness in getting the necessary funds? This question did the rounds in Navelim this week after Power Minister Nileshbab publicly requested Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro to use his good offices with the CM to obtain financial sanction for the project. Sounds interesting, isn’t it, when a minister asks an opposition MLA to urge the CM for sanctioning of funds. Or, is there more to something than meets the eye?

Damu scores; he’s Man of the Moment

BJP leader Damubab Naik may have the last laugh as the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao may finally open for Covid vaccination programme. When arch political rival Vijaibab had offered Goemkar Ghor for vaccination, Damubab had proposed the cultural institution for the purpose. Instead of the vaccination centre, the swab collection centre was shifted to Ravindra Bhavan, leaving the BJP leader upset. Damubab should now be happy. The vaccination centre will not be housed at Goemkar Ghor, but right at the Ravindra Bhavan headed by him. Any question?
