In view of the rising number of dengue cases in South Goa District, district Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS has directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and the taluka Block Development Officers to identify dengue-prone areas and initiate necessary preventive measures to reduce the incidence of dengue.

The meeting reviewed the situation and discussed preventive and control measures, along with Biku Gawas, Dy Collector, (South-II) and Sanjivani Satardekar, Dy Collector(LA), South Goa District.

The meeting was attended by SDMs, DySP, BDOs, Medical Superintendents, and officials from various municipalities. During the meeting, Municipality officials informed that fogging and spraying activities have commenced in areas reporting dengue cases and will be carried out once a week across South Goa district.

The SDMs were directed to conduct meetings with local bodies, including PHC teams, to identify dengue-prone areas and undertake necessary preventive measures to reduce the incidence of dengue. Health officials were instructed to mandatorily inform the concerned SDMs and BDOs about the monthly trend and rise in reported dengue cases.

Directions were issued to the taluka BDOs to provide labourers to the PHCs for undertaking dengue control measures, while local bodies were instructed to initiate necessary activities to control and reduce dengue cases.

The collector underscored the need for regular awareness activities among citizens along with IEC activities for a period of two weeks, to promote preventive measures and community participation.
