Suspense over GPCC chief’s resignation continues

Suspense over GPCC chief’s resignation continues

He came, he saw and left the State for Bengaluru after assessing the Congress party’s situation in Goa post-ZP debacle. But, Congressmen have a simple question to ask “ has Congress Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao any plans up his sleeves to bring a turnaround in the party before 2022? Questions are asked whether he would recommend a change in GPCC by replacing Girishbab Chodankar? And, will Rahul Gandhi accept Girishbab’s resignation even if Rao’s report suggests a change in leadership? These and other questions have come to haunt the Congress post-Rao’s visit. Can Congressmen look forward for a change in the New Year. Wait and watch.

What transpired at the Borda hillock?

Why did Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao rush to Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro’s residence after an interaction with party leaders at the South district Congress office? Congress leaders and workers were trying to figure out what made Rao leave the South district Congress office to pay a visit to Luizinhbab on the Borda hillock. Take note, Luizinhbab, who was one MLA and senior leader, who sounded critical on the party’s decision to contest the ZP polls on the party banner, did not call on the AICC general secretary either at Panaji or Margao. In the meantime, sources are trying to figure out what transpired at the Dinesh-Luizinho meet.

Supporters stand firm by Girish

Congress workers close to GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar in private say their leader is firmly in the GPCC saddle. They are not ready to believe that either Sonia or Rahul Gandhi will ever replace Girishbab from the coveted post. This impression has further reinforced by the fact that Girishbab has been attending all party programmes even after putting in his papers. During Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao’s visit to South Goa district office, Girishbab is believed to have attended a crucial meeting with party functionaries how to go about with social media. Any takers?

Post-ZP, dhirios go missing in Benaulim

Post-Zilla Panchayat election results, not many dhirios are believed to have taken place in the Colva police station area, having its jurisdiction over Benaulim Assembly constituency represented by Varca strongman Bab Churchill. Dhirio lovers are trying to figure out whether there’s any connection between the dhirios and the ZP election result, which saw the rise of Aam Aadmi Party in Benaulim. Or, is it simply that the Colva police has suddenly become proactive in cracking a whip against the bull fights. Many questions remained unanswered, but dhirio lovers, however, hope for a turnaround.

Vijai’s ‘Mahagathbandhan’ call

It was a week when Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai renewed his call to the Opposition for a “Mahagathbandhan” to stop the saffron brigade’s free run in the State. Vijaibab seemed to have reached the conclusion that the only way out to dislodge the BJP is to forge an alliance of like-minded political parties. His opponents may term Vijaibab’s offer as another proposal to save him in Fatorda. Will the Congress and other parties reciprocate? Or, will the offer end up in another cold shoulder from the main Opposition party. One may get the answer in the New Year.

Will the Congress leadership try another medicine in Cuncolim with the experiment of roping in the father-Son duo of Joaquim and Yuri Alemao having failed to win Guirdolim in the ZP polls. Sources say the Guirdolim defeat may not ring in good news for the Alemaos, more so when they have set their eyes on the Congress ticket. Yuri was quick to claim the BJP has won the seat because of votes from Quepem constituency. Reports, however, say some Congress leaders, opposed to…
