Victory is crucial for Girish to prove leadership

The election result on March 10 is important for Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Chief Girishbab Chodankar for more than one reason. After a host of defections and debacles under his leadership in the last three years, Girishbab must be anxiously looking for a much-needed victory and prove his leadership qualities. He knows for sure that his opponents within the Congress and outside will gun for his head in the event of a defeat in the husting. Wait and watch.

Has Congress put a plan in place, not only to keep its flock together but preempt rivals from poaching its winning candidates and Independents, who may not be averse to supporting the party to form the government? With politicians of all hues in touch with whoever that matters in government formation, will the Congress leadership put in place a counter plan to keep the saffron brigade at bay? Only time will tell.
