It was a week when tongues were left wagging in political circles over Goa Forward Party chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s visit to Madhya Pradesh, the home state of former Goa Congress in-charge, Digvijaya Singh. It’s an open secret that the Vijai-Digvijai duo share a close rapport and their relationship was much talked about when the Congress could not form the government in 2017 after the Goa Forward chief lent support to the saffron brigade. That a photo showing Vijaibab with Digvijai in MP went viral only gave rise to speculations whether anything is cooking up politically. Vijaibab has since returned to Goa. For, the Court ruling has left the fate of AAP Benaulim ZP member Hanzel Fernandes in balance after the court set aside the OBC caste certificate issued to him by the Deputy Collector. Political observers in private say it is just a matter of time before the AAP ZP member Hanzelbab is disqualified by the Administrative Tribunal. Madgavkars wary of Digambar, Damu love-hate relationship
Madgavkars have been left to wonder over the love-hate relationship between Margao MLA Diggu and his confidante, Margao civic chief Damubab Shirodkar. Consider this. After the 2021 Municipal polls, Damubab had staged a revolt against Diggu for not pushing his candidature for the august post of Margao civic chief. Since then, their relationship came under severe strain, before they decided to bury the hatchet. Again, many an eyebrow was raised when Diggu went all out to make Damubab the MMC chairperson via the Ordinance route to change the election voting norm from secret ballot to show of hands. As all seemed well between the two leaders, Damubab charged the MLA for neglecting him in civic matters. The duo, however, has patched up again, as Damu stays put as the civic chief, courtesy Diggu. It was a week when many an eyebrow was raised in Congress circles after South Goa District Committee chief Saviobab D’Silva and his workers from Velim constituency called on newly-appointed permanent invite to the Congress Working Committee Girishbab Chodankar. Saviobab, sources said, is being seen as a member of the GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar group. As a photograph of Saviobab and his workers with Girishbab went viral, Congress workers were left to wonder what’s happening around. Saviobab is believed to have maintained that he had only paid a courtesy visit on Girishbab. Any takers?
When GFP was not invited for ‘INDIA’ conclave in Mumbai
Did any of the regional parties from Goa attend the two-day Opposition alliance INDIA conference at Mumbai? This question did the rounds in political circles even as the two-day conclave of Opposition parties ended in the metropolitan city on Friday. Political observers have been trying to figure out whether leaders of the INDIA alliance had extended an invitation to the State regional parties, including the Goa Forward party. Sources, however, said the regional party headed by MLA Vijaibab Sardesai received no invite from the INDIA alliance to attend the Opposition conclave. Any questions?
