Deputy CM Babu Ajgaonkar invoked former Margao MLA & Minister late Babu Naik’s name as he descended in the Comba area of the Margao constituency. Considered the heartland of the Saraswats and the BJP, Ajgaonkar reminded the people at a corner meeting that he had started his political career under the late Babu. Political observers say Babu has apparently invoked Babu Naik’s name out of respect for the late MLA as well as with an eye on the crucial Saraswat vote.
