Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s statement on erasing tracing of Portuguese rule seemed to have left Goans a confused lot. What exactly is Pramodbab’s agenda remains unclear since the time he took the platform of the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj at the Betul fort to announce the move. The CM’s statement comes days after he announced plans to make public the report on temples razed during the Portuguese regime. With nothing more being heard from the CM, one has come across on the social media citizens seeking clarifications from the Lobos, Monserrates, Godinho, Sequeira, Cabral and D’Souza on the government’s agenda. Any takers?
Bypass issue: Venzy in defence, says not a BJP or NDA member
What exactly did Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas try to convey when he said he is neither a member of the BJP nor of the NDA and neither an ex-NDA member to take up the western bypass issue with Union Ministers in Delhi? For a moment, many a Benaulikar might have wondered what exactly Venzybab was trying to convey. Political observers, however, say Venzybab’s statement assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai taking up the bypass issue with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Interesting isn’t it as it is an open secret that Vijaibab was a member of the NDA in the recent past.
What transpired between Churchill, Vijai over phone?
When Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and vice-president Durgadasbab Kamat were still holed up in Delhi after calling on Union Minister Nitin Gadkari over the western bypass issue, the duo is believed to have received a late night call from none other than Varca strongman Churchillbab Alemao. Sources say Vijaibab received a call from Churchillbab, at the dead of night, with whom he shares a love-cold relationship, called up to find out what’s happening in the national capital. More than the bypass, sources said Churchillbab, who is presently holidaying in Bahrain with family, was anxious to know whether the Goa Forward chief has any political plans up his sleeves. Any questions?
Sardinha readying for another shot at Lok Sabha elections?
Perhaps for the first time since a host of party leaders set their eyes on the Congress South Goa Lok Sabha ticket, South Goa MP Franciscobab Sardinha has sent a message loud and clear to all and sundry that he is ready for the 2024 battle on behalf of the party. Take note, the four-time MP did not say he would stake claim for the ticket, but left it to the party leadership to take a call, saying he is ready to shoulder any responsibility. Will the Congress bat for the veteran of many a successful Lok Sabha battle or will the party test a new face as the party candidate. Wait and watch.
BJP ministers, MLAs descending in Curtorim raises eyebrows
Curtorkars may wonder what’s the saffron brigade really up to with BJP Ministers, MLAs and leaders descending in Curtorim in droves coinciding with PM Narendrabhai Modi’s nine-year rule. Take note, Curtorim is represented by Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco, a supporting partner of the BJP-led government. The political equation, however, has not stopped Ministers Nileshbab Cabral, Mauvinbab Godinho, MLA Diggu and a host of BJP leaders to move around the constituency with local BJP leaders Anthonybab Barbosa, Dr Snehabai Bhagwat and others in tow. Any questions?
