The NDA connection has come back to haunt Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai. With Vijaibab forging an alliance with Opposition leader, Diggu to fight the Margao civic polls, congressmen appeared bracing up to expose Goa Forward’s membership of the BJP-led NDA and put Vijaibab in the dock in his fiefdom Fatorda. Diggu too seemed to have not escaped the ire of Congressmen, demanding to know how the Opposition leader could tie-up with a party chief, who till date has not withdrawn the membership with the NDA. Any questions?
Digambar tries to soothe ruffled feathers
For a moment, scribes tried to figure out what exactly Opposition leader Diggu meant when he insisted that politics is dynamic and that he does not want to live in the past or in the future. Diggu was answering a query whether the 2017 story wherein Goa Forward abandoned the Congress mid-way to share power with the saffron brigade will not be repeated in the future as he once again joined hands with Vijaibab again to fight the civic polls. And, to soothe ruffled feathers, Diggu insisted that the civic alliance has nothing to do with the 2022 Assembly election. Any takers?
Sabotage? Fatorda Cong denied office premises
Why did Congress leaders deny the South Goa district office premises for the Fatorda block Congress to address the media during the weekend? Well, the issue is believed to have even reached Congress Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao. While the Fatorda block Congress was all set to address the media in the South district office, party leaders were wary that the briefing relating to the Margao Municipal poll may end up in leaving the party embarrassed with Diggu forging an alliance with their bete noire Vijaibab. Gundu Rao, sources said, did not intervene, leaving the decision to the local leadership. Is it a case of sabotage? Only time will tell.

If sources are to be believed, the former Power Minister had planned a programme at Verna coinciding with his birthday, but was cancelled in view of the surge in Covid cases. As expected, Aleixobab’s man Friday and district Congress chief Joebab Dias and his team was amongst the party leaders, who visited his residence to extend their birthday wishes.
Girish awaiting MLAs’ disqualification verdict
Goa Congress president Girishbab Chodankar is bracing up for the worst scenario with Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker scheduled to pronounce verdict in the disqualification case on April 20.
