Oppn leader mum over Benjamin episode

As high drama unfolded at the South district Congress office over Benjamin Silva’s entry into the party, senior leaders, including Leader of the Opposition went into a silent mode. Supporters of Savio Silva dared Opposition leader to have a meeting in Chinchinim if their leader is not given the ticket. They blamed the Opposition leader for getting Benjamin into the party fold. Throughout the drama, there was no word or reaction from the Opposition leader. In his inimitable fashion, he maintained stoic silent, as if nothing was happening in front of him. Is this the beginning of the political circles in the Congress ahead of 2022 election? Wait and watch.

Speculations in Cong over Rao’s exit

Party workers had pinned hopes on AICC Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao to address the GPCC leadership tangle during his visit to Goa. Leave alone the GPCC leadership issue, Congress rank and file have been left to wonder whether Rao will stay put as the Goa desk in-charge or will be replaced by the high command. Interestingly, none of the party leaders made any attempt to cap speculations over Rao’s future as Goa in-charge. On the contrary, some local leaders sent out confusing signals, not only on Rao’s brief in Goa, but the leadership issue staring at the GPCC leadership. Wait and watch.

When decks were cleared for Elvis into Cong

How did bureaucrat-turned-politician Elvisbab Gomes managed to get in touch with top Congress functionaries in Delhi before getting the green signal to join the party? Some say the former AAP State convenor had an audience with none other than Rahul Gandhi, while others say he had a meeting with Venugopal through Alka Lamba. The fact, however, remains no sooner did Elvisbab call on the Congress High Command, is believed to have explained how he had to face certain hurdles on his way to join the Congress, he received a call from State party leaders, welcoming him in the party fold. Any questions?

Joaquim-Yuri duo wary of devp in Cong

Has the father-son duo of Joaquim and Yuri Alemao anything to say on the imminent entry of Elvisbab Gomes in the Congress? The duo, sources say, has been closely monitoring the unfolding developments in the Congress. Since the duo gained entry into the Congress last year, Yuri had led the party to victory in the Cuncolim Municipal polls, establishing himself as a key player in reckoning for the ticket. On the other hand, Elvisbab, sources say, will have to prove a point to Congress leaders why he should be the Congress candidate in 2022. Observers do not rule the possibility of the sons of the soil weapon coming into place in the battle for the Congress ticket.

Luizinho cynosure of all eyes?

It was a week when Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro was the cynosure of all eyes, both within the Congress and outside. Reason. When AICC Goa desk Gundu Rao held a power point presentation with some agencies, Luizinhbab was one of the leaders, who was present at the marathon power point presentation. He was also a member of the party delegation that called on the governor to oppose the Bhumiputra Bill. And, the next day Luizinhbab along with his blue eyed boys in the GPCC descended at the Congress house to interact with the media on the Port Act. Any takers?
