Having shot into limelight after he gave Nilesh Cabral run for his money, Congressmen are trying to figure out Patkar’s role in the organisation, the number of years he had worked in the party, et al. Observers wonder whether the High Command zeroed in on Patkar to strike the communal balance after the party settled for Michaelbab Lobo as the CLP leader. Many questions indeed remain unanswered.

Hazard a guess what was Diggu’s reaction on Madam Sonia Gandhi’s decision to appoint Michaelbab Lobo as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader? Well, Diggu, in his inimitable fashion, reacted by saying he has no problem with the party’s decision. He tweeted to thank Madam Gandhi for appointing him as a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee. Is Diggu happy with the unfolding developments in the party? Was the decision of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) to postpone the decision on appointing the Opposition Leader part of the Congress leadership’s game plan? Well, sources in the Congress pointed out it is now apparent the question on the CLP leader was left to Delhi, apparently to facilitate the High Command to have a CLP leader of its choice. After the Congress High Command revamped the Goa unit of the party with a team of young leaders, observers have been trying to find out the reasons behind MLA Yuri Alemao’s appointment as the party working president. Is it because the party has zeroed in on Yuri to send a message to the people in the minority stronghold that Saxtti does figure in the scheme of things? Outgoing GPCC chief and CLP Girishbab and Diggu hailed from Saxttidom, where the party could win just three out of the eight seats at stake, which had a bearing on government formation. Velim keeps South Goa dist Congress post
It’s a strange coincidence that South Goa district Congress chief Joebab Dias has been shunted out and in his place is appointed arch rival, Velim Sarpanch Saviobab D’Silva. Both the incoming district chief and the outgoing president hail from Velim constituency and had fought a bitter race before Saviobab’s candidature found favour with the Congress party. It’s another matter that Saviobab missed the Assembly bus by a whisker. Incidentally, Saviobab and his ardent supporters had called on AICC observer Rajini Patil to demand a revamp of the district panel.
