With the High Court monitoring the sound pollution norms, many a stakeholder, right from event management to dance organisers, are believed to have turned to the Diggu-Aleixo duo to bail them out of the situation by taking up the issue at the highest government level. When Vijai’s event was given time till 6 in the morning
Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai should thank his stars that the permission he received to use sound up to 6 am had saved him the day and his Narkasura competition on the eve of Diwali. Eyewitnesses recalled that when Vijaibab’s competition at the SGPDA ground continued past midnight, a police team walked into the venue apparently to stop the music and sound. Even before the police team could enter inside, however, the permission to use sound till 6 am was flashed on the giant screens, literally forcing the men-in-uniform to beat a retreat. Two months later, realisation has now dawned on the authorities that the government had exceeded its limits by giving the permission up to 6 am. Howzat?
Cong camp maintains silence on sound pollution norms
It’s indeed strange that the Congress camp seemed maintaining silence on the sound pollution norms when the issue is a subject matter of debate across the State. Both the ruling and opposition politicians have been sympathetic to the concerns raised by the stakeholders, as the norms may hit weddings, besides religious and cultural activities, including midnight masses, zatras, tiatrs, nataks, etc if the authorities clamp down on violations after 10 pm. Nothing much has been heard from the Congress camp till date as the High Court order on sound pollution has kicked up a storm in the State’s countryside.
When Cong MLAs participated in Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra
It was a week when Goa Congress MLAs and GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar participated in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. If Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai and his team flew to Indore in Madhya Pradesh to join the yatra and walk alongside Rahul Gandhi, the three Goa Congress MLAs, Leader of the Opposition Yuribab Alemao, Carlosbab Ferreira and Altonbab D’Costa air dashed to Rajasthan to partake in the yatra along with GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar. The Yuri-Amit duo had joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra last month. Wait and watch whether the Congress delegation has received any message from Team Rahul for Goa.
Cabral is earning distinction for responding to public calls
Former Chief Minister Diggu had earned kudos for receiving public calls even late at nights during his stint in office. PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral is slowly earning the distinction of being a Minister, who responds to public calls. In fact, Cabral makes it a point to call back the caller even late evenings if he cannot reply to the calls when he is preoccupied with official work.
