As the Civil Society led by Ek Paavl Ekcharachem is gearing up to celebrate Unity Day at the Lohia Maidan, Margao on October 31, questions are asked over the Congress party’s stand on the meeting. Last time round, when the NGOs assembled at the Lohia Maidan on October 2 calling for communal amity, Congress leaders including Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao and GPCC Chief Amitbab Patkar were conspicuous by their absence on the plea the duo was not invited. This had an immediate fall out on the opposition unity when Yuribab-led opposition parties sans Goa Forward called on the Governor the very next day to express concern over communal tension. Wait and watch whether the Congress will ask its workers to attend the Unity Day meeting as party leader Elvisbab Gomes has taken to the social media with a plea to the people to attend the October 31 rally in large numbers.
