When GEL had its way during Manohar Parrikar’s regime

When Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai locked horns with Minister Rohanbab Khaunte over GEL on the floor of the House, even touting the agency as Tourism Department’s tout, many a Saxttikar recalled that GEL had its way during the Manohar Parrikar regime in 2017. There were complaints galore from Saxttikars over GEL’s services offered at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative complex, but no one paid heed. GEL has now spread its network, but those who gelled well in the Parrikar government are now in rival political camps. Any questions?

Moti Dongor rehab: What’s Margao saffronites’ take on emerging devp?

As Congress-turned-Margao MLA Diggu set the ball rolling for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers atop Moti Dongor, the saffron brigade may have to answer a question or two -- how do they view the emerging development, more so when Moti Dongor had slammed the doors on the party? It was not uncommon to hear the saffronites bitterly complaining against Moti Dongor during Diggu’s 17-year stint in the Congress. None other than the city BJP leaders know for sure how Moti Dongor came in the way of the saffron brigade over the last decade and half. Any takers?

All eyes on Cong as some leaders welcomed pvt medical college plan

Will GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar or Congress senior vice-president M K Sheikh clarify the party’s stand on Health Minister Vishwajitbab Rane’s plan to set up a private medical college at the South Goa district hospital? This question may come to haunt the Congress leadership sooner rather than later with reports emanating from the party saying a section of party leaders have welcomed the private medical college in the South Goa district hospital. In the past, the Congress had opposed plans to set up a private medical college in the imposing district hospital building. Wait and watch.

Chandor’s heritage plan in budget: Will  Yuri take credit?

This may make reading interesting. Leader of Opposition Yuribab Alemao is apparently pleased that CM Pramodbab Sawant has accepted his plea to protect Chandor’s rich heritage and history. And, the Cuncolim MLA seemed happy that the CM in his budget speech has promised to set up a Health Centre in Cuncolim. Don’t be surprised if Yuribab claims that the CM has announced the two projects in his home constituency after he had raised the demand in the previous session. Interesting, isn’t it, even as Chandorkars are waiting for the government to unveil the heritage plan.

Reginaldo’s new avatar in ruling BJP govt a talking point

As curtains came down on another session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, one question that is being asked in political circles is “ how does the irrepressible Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco find himself in his new avatar as a supporting partner of the ruling BJP government? Well, Reginaldbab along with other opposition MLAs have been in the forefront to take on the saffron brigade inside the Assembly and outside over the last one decade, since 2012 when the Congress was decimated and the return of late Manohar Parrikar to power. Any questions?

A section of Congress leadership seemed unhappy over the delay in constituting the party blocks in Margao and Nuvem represented by Congress-turned-BJP MLAs Diggu and Aleixobab Sequeira. The delay in constituting the blocks, sources say, does not augur well for the national party. It’s a little over six months now since the Diggu-Aleixo duo along with six other Congress MLAs had quit the party to embrace the saffron brigade. These eight MLAs have started their new innings,…
