What’s next on Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s agenda after the success of the Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa progamme held in minority Saxttidom presided over by Prime Minister Narendrabai Modi? The Chief Minister and the saffron brigade may certainly hope to capitalise on the two back to back visits by the Prime Minister in Margao in a bid to wrest the South Goa Lok Sabha seat. None other than the CM knows for sure that PM Modi’s reference to the exposition of St Francis Xavier, calling Goencho Saib a symbol of peace, will help create a feel good factor ahead of the coming polls. Any takers?

Flip-flop on medical college at Margao puzzles everyone

It was a week when Health Minister Vishwajitbab Rane once again publicly batted for a private medical college at the South Goa district hospital. He preferred to make the announcement right in Margao and it comes just two months after he had publicly unveiled plans to set up a nursing college on the top two floors of the district hospital. The flip-flop by the Health Minister has left both health officials and citizens to wonder over Rane’s repeated change in stand on the private medical college at the South district hospital. Many a question still remains unanswered.

Cong, GF’s silence on pvt medical college move raises eyebrows

As Health Minister Vishwajitbab Rane’s flip-flop on the private medical college at the South district hospital continued, opposition parties, including the Congress and the Goa Forward, seemed to have to come under the scanner of political observers. For, in the past, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai and ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar had opposed a private medical college in a government hospital. The silence of the two opposition parties, which has a presence in South Goa, has only thrown up a question whether the two parties are okay with a private medical college in the South district hospital? Wait and watch.

Kamat-Rane bonhomie at Ana Fonte spring garden opening

The bonhomie between Margao’s Baba Diggu and the Baba of Sattari Vishwajitbab Rane was on full display at the inauguration of beautified Ana Fonte spring garden at Margao on Sunday. Both left no stone unturned to shower praises on each other, with the Jr Rane going to the extent of calling Diggu the “Vikas Purush” of not just Margao, but entire Goa. Jr Rane’s wholesome praise of Diggu assumes significance, more so after Diggu came under persistent attack from Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai, blaming the former Chief Minister for Margao’s crumbling infrastructure. Interesting, isn’t it?

UGDP mum, but party leader vocal against Sardinha’s re-nomination

Nothing has been heard from the defunct regional outfit United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP). Party’s irrepressible leader, Adv Radharaobab Gracias, however, is in the news, but for a different reason. Active on the social media in highlighting social-political issues, questions are raised whether Radharaobab has any interest in the coming Lok Sabha election. Known for his anti-Congress stand, Radharaobab had backed the Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha election not out of love for the party, but to ensure BJP’s defeat. Wait and watch as Radharaobab has come out openly against sitting MP Francisbab Sardinha’s re-nomination for the South Goa seat.
