‘Hi Kanni Tum Sompoi’ gives Mumbaikars value for money

‘Hi Kanni Tum Sompoi’ gives Mumbaikars value for money

Prince Jacob has kept the tradition and practice ofreleasing his new show outside the state of Goa intact. As a matter of fact, this has been his pattern for years. Prince Jacob is the only playwright whohas set this enviable benchmark with respect to releasing a new show - of firstreleasing his new tiatr outside Goa, before releasing it in Goa in time forEaster. Staging a show or two at the time of premièring outside the state issomething to talk about, but staging more than a dozen shows one after theother and all ‘houseful’ is a record in itself.

Prince Jacob’s new tiatr, ‘Hi Kanni Tum Sompoi’ had asuccessful run of 13 shows in Mumbai and Pune in January 2013. The tiatr is afamily drama with lessons for the young and the old in the changing familyvalues scenario. One specialty of the tiatr, according to the playwright, isthat the ending is presented in such an interesting way that the audience isunfailingly charmed and persuaded to interact with the artistes on stage in thefinal scene and give the final verdict as to how the story should end. Oursources have revealed that there was overwhelming interactive response to theending scene of the show from the viewers present. This is perhaps the reasonwhy the tiatr is entitled ‘Hi Kanni Tum Sompoi’ (meaning, ‘you end thisstory’).

After the rocking success of his earlier show, ‘AmcheaGharant Tiatr’, here comes yet another blockbuster from the pen of PrinceJacob, a playwright who is known for his high-intensity contemporary plots andinnovative ideas. In the meantime, Prince Jacob and his troupe is taking awell-deserved annual break for the Lenten season and will strike back on Easterday.
