Man killed, girl injured in accident at Mugali
MARGAO: A 50-year-old man was killed and a girl injured in an accident which occurred at Mugali on February 4.
According to Maina-Curtorim police, the accident involved a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Saturday afternoon. The rider of the motorcycle, one Antonio Costa (50), resident of Sheldem, was killed on the spot while the girl, one Sumitra Costa (27), resident of Sheldem, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle suffered injuries in the accident, police informed.
Locals who assembled at the spot alleged that the car was removed from the site of the accident and protested against this development. Former Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco arrived at the site of the accident and pacified the protesting locals. Later, DySP Dinraj Govekar, who arrived at the spot, assured Reginald and the protesting locals that a proper panchanama would be done of the accident while assuring the agitators that action would be taken against whosoever is found guilty of committing any mistake in this matter.
