Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over hosts Betalbatim Sports Club on Sunday to set up a final clash with Guardian Angel SC Curchorem in the 6th Martin's Cup.
The tournament, organised by Betalbatim Sports Club and held at the Panchayat Ground in Betalbatim, saw Don Bosco emerge victorious through a late strike from Francisco Andrade.
Myron Fernandes opened the scoring for Don Bosco in the 3rd minute, but their celebrations were short-lived. Betalbatim forward Oliver earned a penalty in the 6th minute after being brought down in the box, and he coolly converted from the spot to level the score before half-time.
Both teams played attacking football throughout the match, keeping the Sunday crowd on the edge of their seats. However, it was Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda who found the winning goal in the 60th minute. Francisco Andrade unleashed a powerful left-footed shot, leaving the Betalbatim goalkeeper no chance and sending Don Bosco through to the final scheduled for Our Lady of Remedios feast day on January 21.
Antony Pango, GFA's Senior Vice President, awarded the Man of the Match trophy to Francisco Andrade for his decisive strike.
