Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Fatorda showcased their dominance as they trounced Nerul Sports Club by a convincing 4-1 scoreline, securing their place in the Finals of the prestigious 25th Holy Cross Intervillage football tournament at Kakoda on Tuesday. Right from the start, DBO Fatorda made their intentions clear, with Clencio Pinto opening the scoring in the 2nd minute through a penalty. Maintaining their momentum, Fatorda extended their lead to 2-0 in the 6th minute, courtesy of a well-placed deflection by Veliston D'Souza that found the back of the net. Fatorda continued to dominate, and Joel Colacco added a third goal in the 9th minute. Nerul got an opportunity in the 19th minute and scored a goal through a penalty by Chaitan Dabholkar. In the 55th minute of the second half, Clencio Pinto struck again, scoring Fatorda's fourth goal with a precise shot.
Cavelossim Panchayat Rolling Trophy kicks off
MARGAO: The Cavelossim Panchayat Rolling Trophy Inter Village Football Tournament gets underway at Fr Druston and Wellington football ground, Cavelossim with the inaugural match between Rosman Cruz SC Nagoa and Chandor SC on Wednesday at 4 pm. The winner will get Rs 60,000 while Runners up will get Rs 40,000 all sponsored by Village Panchayat of Cavelossim besides the rolling trophy. Rinku Lobo, Dy Sarpanch will kick off the tournament in the distinguished presence of Fr Ubaldo Fernandes, Parish Priest of Cavelossim and Panchas Jesus Da Costa, John Fernandes, Iris Passanhas, Swizel Barreto and Delfina Luis and VP Secretary Ankita Dessai.
Arlem Trophy: Varca Sports Club move into semis
MARGAO: Varca Sports Club defeated Arlem Youth Association 5-4 to enter the semifinals of the Arlem Trophy Intervillage Football Tournament at Raia Panchayat ground, Raia. Both teams were tied at 1-1 at the normal time. Lloyd Cardozo gave Arlem YA the lead while Jobern Cardozo equalised for Varca SC. In the ensuing tiebreaker “ Aaron Barreto, Allan Fernandes, Yunal Fernandes and Muhammad Shaikh scored for Varca SC while Velito Cruz, Delan Gomes and Klins Mendes netted for Arlem YA.
