Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Joaquin Carvalho, along with former India coach, met Velim MLA Cruz Silva to discuss initiatives for promoting hockey development in the Velim constituency.
The discussions focused on providing better opportunities for aspiring hockey players, emphasizing the region’s strong club culture and its role in nurturing grassroots talent. Carvalho highlighted the importance of identifying and developing young talent for the future of the sport. He offered to train young players and assist them in shaping their careers. During the meeting, Carvalho presented a hockey stick to MLA Cruz Silva.
In response, the Velim MLA assured his full support, including the provision of a hockey pitch, to promote the sport in the region. This meeting marks a significant step towards advancing hockey in Velim, creating a platform for young players to showcase their skills.
