Heavy trucks and tankers being parked at Education Department football ground at Manora has led to irreparable damage to the pitch.
A resident said that the Fatorda Police station personnel directed the truck owners to park their vehicles inside the ground. Over the past few months, residents of Manora and coaches have been complaining about the situation. “Our training and practice routine has been disrupted due to the vehicles being parked on the ground,” said one of the footballers.
Luis Quadros, former sarpanch of Raia, said that the heavy vehicles are causing a lot of damage to the ground. "When we conduct tournaments, the Education Department charges us fees. But as no action is taken by the authorities, the footballers are inconvenienced," said Quadros.
