Pax of Nagoa Sports Club and Churchill Brothers FC battled out a hard fought 2-2 draw, in the GFA Goa Professional League, at SAG trinity ground, on Friday.
The match was a rollercoaster of near misses and stellar saves. The action kicked off early with Josley Moniz slotting past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot after pulling off some slick dribbles with finesse.
Things got spicy when captain Trijoy Dias found the roof of the net in the 17th minute and the first half ended in a nail bitting 1-1 draw.
The second half saw Pax of Nagoa and Churchill Brothers hoping for a game changer. Pax of Nagoa conceded a goal in the 55th minute as defender Joseph Clemente put the ball into his own net. Down by a goal, Pax of Nagoa intensfied their attacks and in the defender Muhammed. Nihal levelled the score in the 72 minute. In the 81th minute, Lunminlan Haokip bulged the net for the Red Machines.
The final whistle blew and the score stubbornly remained 2-2 forcing both teams to settle for a dramatic draw.
In the U-13 Khelo football tournament, A triple strike by Sahana Gaonkar helped Compassion FC beat Union of Chinchinim Villagers 3-2, at SAG Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda.
Compassion FC held upper hand in the opening session and took the lead through Sahana Gaonkar in the 10th minute.
In the second session, Union of Chinchinim Villagers showed urgency and in the 32nd minute Morenza Baretto cancelled the lead .
Compassion upped the ante and Shahana Gaonkar regained the lead in the 37th minute. Sahana registered her hat-trick in the 49th minute. Karen D'Souza reduced the lead in the 56th minute.
In another match, Sporting Clube de Rumdamol defeated Sirvodem Sports Club 3-2. Meave Pereira, Leanna Pereira and Avril Gia Gonsalves were the goalscorers for the winners while Mizia Rodrigues and Raiza Lourenco found the net for Sirvodem.
