The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has introduced 'Learn to Play Online Series', a unique initiative to promote sports coaching through online mode amid the restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic.
"The online sports coaching module prepared by a team of experts aims to develop interest among youngsters in the sport and to educate sports professionals, Physical Education Teachers, enthusiasts etc. on various coaching aspects of the sport. The online programme is a complete guide on the history of the sport, skill sets needed, techniques, equipment and covers various forms/ modules," the SAG said in a press release.
In its first series, the SAG started a cricket coaching online series, which was made available on the SAG Coaching Goa YouTube channel, https://youtu.be/zGnbHbfADYI. The programme was launched at the hands of VM Prabhu Desai, Executive Director of the SAG. Also present were Ashraf Pandial, Honorary Treasurer, SAG; Bruno Coutinho, Director - Coaching, Monica Dourado, Project Officer, Vasudev Bhandari, Asst Accounts Officer, Steffi Cardozo, Asst Project Officer, Sandeep Naik, Coaches Zone III In-charge, and Nilesh Naik, Coaches Zone VI In-charge.
At the launch, Prabhu Desai congratulated the SAG's coaching section for making available the novel mediums of coaching engagement and activities during the ongoing pandemic and appealed to youngsters, professionals and enthusiasts, to draw benefits of the programme. The online module aims to cover 30 sports disciplines with over a thousand youngsters expected to take its benefit.
