Sai Avtar Anjuna humbled Sao Jose de Areal 4-1 to move into the semifinals of the Late Pacheco Cup at Village Panchayat ground, Betalbatim on Thursday.
Faiz Mohammed of Sai Avatar was the star of the match as he netted a hat-trick, which earned him the Man of the match award. Within three minutes, Faiz netted the first goal of the match. In the 30th minute, he scored the second goal for Anjuna.
Ten minutes later, after foxing a couple of Areal defenders, Faiz fired from close range to score his hat-trick, 3-0. In the second half, Areal pulled a goal back through substitute Platini. With three minutes left for the final whistle, Prantik Dhargalkar made it 4-1 for Anjuna.
Desterro Unity Cup on Aug 15
Desterro Parish Youth will organise their Inter-ward tiebreaker football tournament for Desterro Unity Cup on August 15 at Busy Bee ground, from 2 pm onwards.
