SC Davorlim enter Custodio Memorial semis

Sporting Club Davorlim blanked Nerul SC 2-0 to enter the semifinals of the 50th Custodio Memorial inter-village football tournament organized by Raia Sporting Club at Raia Panchayat ground on Saturday.

Nerul SC dominated the first session of the play but missed scoring chances through Dev Sangelkar and Akash Banaulikar. Jordon Miranda of SC Davorlim also had an opportunity to score but missed from close range.

William Niasso gave the lead to Sporting Club in the 30th minute before Reeve D’Costa increased the advantage for SC Davorlim in the second session. Man of the Match award was presented to Francis Colaco of SC Davorlim at the hands of Teodoro Gomes, football promoter of Raia and executive member of Raia Sporting Club.

Guirdolim Club book finals spot
Guirdolim Club shocked Nuvem Sports Club 2-1 to move into the finals of the 15th St Anthony's Festival inter-village football tournament organized by St Anthony's Sports Club Assolda at Moll Ground, Assolda on Saturday.

Guirdolim Club rocked the rival citadel in the third minute as striker Moses D'Sa slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap-shot. However, the joy was short-lived as Richard Colaco equalised for Nuvem. Crossing over, Guirdolim were a transformed side and scored in the 50th minute through Lui Godinho, 2-1.

Sao Miguel Trophy from July 24
PANAJI: Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao will organize their annual 7-a-side inter-ward football tournament for Sao Miguel Trophy from July 24 onwards at Dr Remegio Pinto Ground, Taleigao. The finals will be held on August 21.

Cash prizes of Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 will be awarded to the winners and runners-up, respectively. Only players from areas under Taleigao Panchayat, CCP jurisdiction, Nauxem, Cacra can play in the tournament. Entry forms are available with Anthony Pereira (9823360001). The last date to submit the entries is July 20 by 10 pm.
