The Confraria of St. Francis Xavier Church, Duler Mapusa, in collaboration with the SFX Youth, organised an exhibition football match between the SFX Veterans and the SFX Youth, followed by a felicitation ceremony to honor young talent from the Parish who have excelled in sports and academics at the State and National levels on the occassion of the feast of St Francis Xavier.
The event began with an exciting football match between the SFX Veterans and the SFX Youth. Both teams gave their best in a well-fought and evenly matched contest, but the SFX Youth ultimately triumphed 2-0. During the halftime break, the SFX Ladies and the SFX Girls Youth teams played a tiebreaker, with the SFX Ladies emerging victorious 2-1.
Both winning and losing teams received cash prizes and medals. Special awards were given to the fittest player and the top goal scorer, while the women's teams were presented with medals and mementos.
This year, 10 young achievers from the Parish were felicitated for their outstanding performance in sports and academics at the State and National levels.
Stephen Fernandes, Chief Electrical Engineer at the Electricity Department, Government of Goa, was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Savio Fernandes, Assistant Engineer at the Goa Electricity Department, Mapusa, and Anand Bhaidkar, Councillor of Ward No. 1, Mapusa Municipal Council, graced the event as Guests of Honour.
