United Boys Ambaulim booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup 2025, organized by St. Anthony Sports Club, Assolda, with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wilred Leisure, Curtorim in the pre-quarterfinal clash held at Moll Ground, Assolda, on Tuesday.
Despite heavy rain at kickoff, Ambaulim got off to a flying start, taking the lead in just the 3rd minute through Sowell Fernandes.
In the second half, Visiton Fernandes doubled the lead for Ambaulim in the 51st minute, putting pressure on the Curtorim side. Wilred Leisure managed to pull one back in the 58th minute through Aliston Fernandes, but were unable to find the equaliser despite late efforts.
Savlon Fernandes of United Boys Ambaulim was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Anthony Pango, Vice President of the Goa Football Association (GFA).
