Women’s football league at Benaulim

Ave Maria Athletic and Walkers Club Benaulim will organise its ‘1st All Goa 11-a-side women tournament on December 6 to 7 at SAF Ground, Vaddie, Benaulim.

The women’s league will be played on a league format and each teams will play two matches and the top team will be the champion and second team will be declared the runners up. Six teams have confirmed their participation - Sirvodem Football, United Club of Telaulim, Rosary Navelim, Warrior FC from Curtorim, Rosary Stars from Navelim and Compassion FC.

The winners will pick up Rs 30,000 plus trophy while the runners up will get Rs 25,000 and a trophy besides other attractive prizes. The league is sponsored by Gina Pereira, social worker and activist.

MARGAOGoa went down fighting to Railways 2-4 and crashed out of the Senior Women National football championship at Calicut, Kerala on Sunday.Railways were able to get off to a better start, enjoying more possession in the opposition half and scored the goals at ease. They tormented and teased the rival defence with sporadic raids. At the other end, Goa came out blazing guns but Railways defenders were stubborn at the back.
