Chandiramani wins 60+ title at Gadre Gaspar Dias Open

Winner of men’s singles 60+ veterans category, Dr Manoj Chandiramani.

In the ongoing Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2024, 62-year-old medical professional Dr Manoj Chandiramani emerged victorious in the men's singles 60+ veteran category, defeating Rafik Khotu (6-2) (6-0). Chandiramani, a former state and national level tennis player, had previously secured the men's singles title in the 60+ category in 2021 and continued his success by easily overcoming his opponent in a straight-set victory.

In the veterans category, Sumant Paul and Jaydeep Wakankar clinched the men's doubles 90+ age grouping title by defeating Vijaykumar Patki and Nilesh Sawant (7-6)(2) (6-3). In the men's singles 55+ category, Biswajit Roy triumphed over Parag Shedbale (6-1)(4-6)(10-8), and in the men's doubles 110+ category, Biswajit Roy, paired with Armugam M, to secure another title by defeating Dinesh Shingte/Nilesh Sawant (6-3)(6-1).

The open category matches commenced at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and Panjim Gymkhana tennis courts. Notable results in the men's singles open category included Shantanu Joshi defeating Sabaridas S (6-0), Tom beating Zyrell Fernandes (6-0), Apoorv Bamba overcoming Chowgule Prateek (6-0), and Kedar Tari defeating Javed (6-0).

With 479 tennis players participating, including 234 in the veterans category and 245 in the open category, the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open is a crucial event for players aspiring to enhance their state rankings in tennis.
