The organisers of the Legends Pro T20 League on Wednesday confirmed the inclusion of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Faf du Plessis, Asghar Afghan and Rahul Sharma, further strengthening the player roster ahead of the league’s inaugural season in Goa.

With the addition of the four former internationals, the number of confirmed players for the tournament has risen to 18. The Legends Pro T20 League is scheduled to begin on January 26 at the 1919 Cricket Stadium in Verna, and will feature six teams, with a total of 90 players to be drafted.

Dilshan, a former Sri Lanka captain and T20 World Cup winner, is regarded as one of the most innovative opening batters of the modern era and is credited with popularising the ‘Dil Scoop’. Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis brings extensive leadership experience and a strong T20 record across global leagues.

Asghar Afghan, Afghanistan’s former skipper, played a key role in the country’s rise in international cricket. He led Afghanistan to 42 T20I victories, boasting a win percentage of over 80, and was instrumental in several landmark wins against established teams. Rahul Sharma, a former India leg-spinner, rose to prominence in the IPL, including a memorable spell of 3 for 13 against Rajasthan Royals in 2011.

The league has already confirmed the participation of several high-profile players, including Shane Watson, Chris Gayle, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, Shaun Marsh, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik and Harbhajan Singh.

Organisers said the latest additions add further depth and global appeal to the competition as preparations gather pace for the opening season, now less than six weeks away.
