Sangam Popkar, a talented bodybuilder from Bicholim, has recently made headlines by achieving remarkable success at the ICN Dubai International competition. This prestigious event, organised by Jay Acharya and his team along with ICN Worldwide, is known for showcasing the best natural bodybuilders from around the globe.
In this year’s competition, bodybuilders from diverse countries participated, including Iran, Italy, Sri Lanka, and the UAE, among others. Although the exact number of contestants is not known, the event was truly international in scope.
Popkar competed in two categories: Open Classic Physique and Men’s Fitness Pro Show. His performance was outstanding, earning him the top position in the Open Classic Physique category, while securing a commendable fourth place in the Men’s Fitness Pro Show.
Reflecting on his journey, Popkar shared that bodybuilding is a challenging sport. Despite the difficulties faced during his preparation, he felt fortunate to have a supportive community. The preparation phase was demanding, but with the help of his coach, Jake, and his health coach, Luke Sir, Popkar managed to overcome the hurdles and achieve his goals.
Participating in the ICN Dubai International was a dream come true for Popkar. He expressed immense satisfaction as his plans with his coach from the previous year came to fruition. The experience of competing on such a significant stage and representing India was exhilarating.
Popkar, who has now competed in eight shows, described the entire process as a beautiful journey. He appreciated the hard work involved and felt grateful for the opportunity to pursue his passion. Special thanks were given to his health coach, Luke, for sponsoring him and providing mental support, as well as to his prep coach, Jake, for transforming him into his best self.
Popkar also extended his gratitude to his family for their unwavering support: his parents, Sadanand and Sanjana Popkar, and his brother, Shubham Popkar. He also acknowledged the contributions of Vishal Naik, his godfather and mentor; Ugam Shenoy, who assisted with his diet; Rajesh and Roopa Kudalkar for spiritual support; and several others who played crucial roles in his journey.
Sangam Popkar’s success at the ICN Dubai International not only highlights his dedication and hard work but also brings pride to Goa and India on the global stage.
