Goa’s Ranji cricketer and off-spinner Mohit Redkar has been selected for bowlers’ specialist camp at BCCI’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Bengaluru.

The four-day camp will be held from 23–26 March 2026 under the guidance of former India cricketer and one’s of India’s finest off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. The camp will conclude before the IPL which begins on March 28.

Apart from Harbhajan Singh, former India cricketers Anil Kumble and Zaheer Khan will also be part of the camp. The trio will be guiding upcoming and young talented bowlers from India during this camp.

In recent times, India’s performance in T20 and ODI cricket has been very good. India also won the T20 World Cup for a record third time recently.

But, its performance in Test cricket has not been satisfactory. Hence, this camp is being organized in order to groom quality bowlers for the future and give them proper guidance and training.

Mohit is the only bowler from Goa to have been selected for this camp.

Mohit, 25, made his debut for Goa in Ranji Trophy against Rajasthan at Goa Cricket Association (GCA) ground in Porvorim during 2022-23 season, grabbing five wickets in his first match itself. Since his debut, Mohit has had five wicket hauls four times, accumulating 72 wickets in 25 first-class matches. The all-rounder has also scored 623 runs which includes three fifties, his highest score being 80.

Mohit has been one of Goa’s leading wicket-takers in Ranji Trophy in recent times. During 2024-25 season, he emerged as Goa’s second-highest wicket taker in Ranji Trophy with 18 wickets.

During 2023-24 season, Mohit was highest wicket-taker in U-23 category and was selected for the Deodhar Trophy.

Mohit was also selected for the India ‘A’ team for the Emerging Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and has attended two high performance camps at Alur and Coimbatore.

“It’s truly an honour to be coached by Harbhajan Singh. Learning from a legend of the game is an incredible opportunity and a big step in my cricketing journey. I’m sincerely thankful to the Goa Cricket Association for their constant support and encouragement in helping young players grow. This motivates me to continue with relentless practice, dedication, and hard work as I strive to improve my game every day and make the most of this opportunity,” Mohit told The Goan.

The off-spinner further added, “I hope to continue improving my skills and understanding of the game. I’m committed to giving my best, learning as much as possible from this experience, and making the most of every moment on and off the field as I work towards my goals in cricket.”

“I have always believed in being a learner, and I would indeed be indebted to further improvise my skill set, especially at a prestigious place like the National Cricket Academy.”

“I am thankful to Goa Cricket Association (GCA) for helping me in my cricket journey from the age group till today. I would like to thank Chetan Dessai, Balu Phadke, Mahesh Dessai, Tulshidas Shetye. My coach Sandeep Naik and my club Margao Cricket Club,” Mohit said.
