Pearl hat-trick fires Goa eves

A triple strike by forward Pearl Fernandes helped Goa rout Meghalaya 4-1 in a Group E match of the 28th Senior Women's National Football Championship at Sundargarh Stadium in Odisha, on Sunday.

Goa dominated the game and started with a bang as Pearl scored the first goal in the first minute, punting the ball to the far corner of the net. Pearl's strike partner Karishma Shirvoikar then slotted past the rival goalkeeper in the 24th minute to make it 2-0.

Pearl then pumped in two quick goals, in the 27th minute 29th minutes, to complete her hat-trick. Goa led 4-0 at the break. Marborim Nongram scored for Meghalaya in the 58th minute to give some hope to the northeastern team.

However, Meghalaya suffered a blow in the second half as Banrilang Lyngdoh Nongbri was sent off in the 66th minute and Goa sealed a 4-1 result.
