United Boys of Ambaulim made a powerful statement in their debut appearance at the 34th Super Soccer Football Tournament, defeating Betalbatim SC 3-1 at the Panchayat Ground.
Melquel tested Betalbatim goalkeeper Milton D’souza early on, but it was Joel Barretto who broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with a thunderous strike, handing Ambaulim a deserved 1-0 lead at halftime.
Ambaulim maintained their intensity in the second half. Lawrito capitalized on a defensive lapse in the 33rd minute to double the advantage. The dynamic midfield pairing of Barretto and Dailon Carvalho kept the pressure on, with Dailon adding a third in the 49th minute to virtually seal the result.
Betalbatim managed a consolation goal through a Klusner Pereira penalty late in the match.
Joel Barrett was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Rohit Sawant, entrepreneur from Margao.
