The 1st All Goa Boxing Training Camp-cum-Competition concluded on a high note at Joggers Park, Chicalim, following a 14-day programme that brought together budding boxers from across the state and provided them with a platform to display their skills and competitive spirit.

The event culminated with a closing ceremony attended by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho and Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, who congratulated the participants for their dedication and commitment to the sport.

Addressing the young athletes, Godinho lauded the discipline, hard work and determination displayed throughout the training camp and competition. He noted that boxing is steadily gaining popularity among Goa's youth and said such initiatives play an important role in nurturing future champions. Drawing inspiration from legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, he encouraged the participants to continue working on their speed, stamina and technical skills while remaining focused on their sporting goals.

Godinho also appreciated the efforts of the coaches, trainers and organisers for conducting the programme and providing aspiring boxers with an opportunity to develop their talent in a competitive environment. He said grassroots events are essential for identifying promising athletes and strengthening the sport in the state.

The competition featured boxers across various age groups, weight categories and both men's and women's divisions, resulting in a series of closely contested bouts during the two-week programme.

At the conclusion of the event, RCC Salvador do Mundo was declared the overall champion based on its consistent performance across categories. Jab & Box Club finished as runners-up after an impressive showing throughout the competition.

Organisers said the training camp-cum-competition was aimed at improving the technical abilities of young boxers while also giving them valuable match experience. The event attracted participation from boxing clubs and training centres from different parts of Goa, reflecting the growing interest in the sport.

The successful completion of the programme was welcomed by participants, coaches and parents alike, with many expressing hope that similar competitions would be held regularly to provide greater exposure and opportunities for young boxing talent in the state.
