A 73rd minute header by striker Roque Borges helped 10-man Curtorim Gymkhana to hold Clube Sao Miguel de Talegiao Sports Club to a 1-1 draw in the Geno GFA First Division League at Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda on Monday. Curtorim Gymkhana’s Roque was given the Geno Man of the match award.

Telegiao dominated the first half and had their best chance to surge ahead when striker Gautam Kankonkar picked up the ball from Jayesh Kadam but Curtorim Gymkhana goalkeeper Clarence Furtado brought up a spectacular save. Moments later, Kreston Estrocio had a chance to break the deadlock but Clarence’s heroics kept the

citadel intact.

The second half proved to be a much different game as Curtorim Gymkhana team gunned for the maximum points after a pep talk from coach Alex Dias. But Curtorim Gymkhana goal had a charmed life as Somesshekar Kumbar’s carpet drive hit the post. Curtorim Gymkahna sufferded a blow when Elloy Soares was ejected by referee Mayank Pandey for deliberate handling of the ball in the 57th minute.

Curtorim Gymkhana’s equaliser came in the 72nd minute when Nelson Fernandes sent a floater inside the rival box and Roque nicely headed home, giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper. Boosted by the equaliser, Curtorim Gymkhana hit the pedal in search of a match winner and Roque headed off an open goal, off midfielder Cliff Baretto’s lob from

the flanks.
