Progress HS, Sharada Mandir register big wins

Progress High School, Panaji trounced Fr Agnel High School, Pilar by 183 runs in an U-16 Late Shri Dilip Sardessai Tiswadi Zone match played at SAG, Campal, Panaji 

on Monday.   

Electing to bat, Progress HS were all out for 301 in 37.3 overs. The bulk of the scoring was done by Anand Adhikari who struck a belligerent 176. No other batsmen in the side reached 20 in the innings. In the Fr Agnel HS attack, Becham D’Costa though on the expensive side had the best returns of 4/62 in 8 overs.   

Chasing a massive total in the allotted 40 overs, the Pilar-based side caved in meekly for 118 in 20.5 overs. Kenny Rodrigues (32) was the only batsman to make a significant contribution for the losing team. Pranay Ramthi stood out in the Progress’ attack with 5/35 in 7.5 overs.   

In another match, Sharada Mandir High School, Miramar registered a facile nine-wicket win over Bal Bharati Vidyalaya, Ribandar. Batting first, Bal Bharati were all out for 166 in 34.4 overs. The innings was built largely by Rajesh Kabbir’s well made 66 (64b, 12x4). Aditya Vaigankar (23) and Vedant Khandeparkar (22) made useful scores to the total. In the Sharada Mandir attack, Bhuvan Porob and Atharva Thakur scalped three sticks apiece.   

Chasing a modest target of 167, the Miramar-based side strolled over the finish line without much fuss. Harsh Saraf on 60 (56b, 8x4) and Harsh Sangelkar on 54 (88b, 1x4) raised an unbroken 113-run stand for the second wicket to register a comprehensive nine-wicket win in 30.2 overs. Akshat Pai Fondekar was the lone wicket to fall at an individual score of 28. Prathamesh Parrihar was the only bowler to taste success for Bal Bharati.
