PANAJI: The Goa Cabinet is expected to appoint the public sector listed engineering firm Engineers India Limited (EIL) as the independent engineering firm for the construction of the Mopa airport on Thursday.
The government of India firm EIL, has been identified by the State government's Civil Aviation Department to monitor all engineering work of the greenfield international airport being executed by GMR.
The proposal will be considered and passed at the cabinet meeting slated to be held on Thursday evening at the Cabinet Room in the ministerial block of the State Secretariat.
The cabinet, which will be chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, is also expected to appoint Dr Jose Manuel Noronha as chariman of the Goa Public Service Commission.
Noronha who is a member of GPSC was hitherto hold charge as its chairman. Appointment of the secretary to the GPSC is also expected to be approved at the cabinet meeting.Sources said, several other table items will also come up for consideration and approval at the cabinet meeting on Thursday.
