PANAJI: Goa's over 6-lakh power consumers will soon have the option of paying their electricity bills with a touch of their smartphone screens as the Bharat Bill Pay System, the one stop bill payment ecosystem launched by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will go on stream in the State from January 26.
Goa electricity department is planning to launch this facility in Goa on January 26.
The system is expected to spike online payments of electricity bills and will reduce the burden on the existing bills payment system.
Bharat bill pay system also has other major national billers on-board in Telecom Postpaid as Airtel, Vodafone, Jio Postpaid, Idea, Aircel, BSNL and the national billers in DTH category like Tata Sky, Videocon DTH, Dish TV .
Consumers can pay their bills through the mode via net-banking, website, app or physical outlets by just seeing the Bharat BillPay logo. Consumers can use Debit Card, Credit Card, Net-Banking or Cash as enabled by their bank.
Consumers will also get instant receipts and confirmation with Bharat BillPay logo.
Bharat BillPay is an ecosystem that provides a one-stop inter-operable bill payment solution. Meanwhile, the Electricity Department will also increase its cash counter timings from the present 10 am to 12.30 pm to 10 am to 1pm and in the evening from 2 p.m to 4.30 pm.
