Goa Football Association, in a statement, has termed the unavailability of match officials for U-20 Taca Goa match between Dempo Sports Club and Vasco Sports Club, "regrettable but an unintentional lapse due to improper communication although the concerned officials were
informed".
"Time was too short to make alternate arrangements. While organising over 1000 matches in a season such instances though rare do happen due to various factors such as frequent requests of Clubs to postpone schedules on some pretext or the other," says the communiqué.
GFA secretary Welvin Menezes has said that the statement of Eban Mesquita that GFA is "killing football" is objectionable and in violation of the Disciplinary Code.
He further said that the team management would be asked to clarify as to how the coach was making such baseless statements.
He said that GFA often goes out of its way in accommodating requests from clubs that cause disruption in the fixed schedules.
The GFA secretary said Eban Mesquita has a history of indiscipline that has resulted in his suspension for acts which would have led to his debarment but for GFA's sympathetic stance that allowed him to continue with his coaching career.
