Ambelim SC knocked out Navelim Sporting Club 7-6 via the tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals of the 2nd Parish Cup Nuvem 2025 at the Nuvem ground on Sunday. Navelim took the lead in the 47th minute through an own goal caused by a deflection off an Ambelim defender. However, Semson Fernandes equalised for Ambelim SC three minutes later in the 50th minute to force penalties. Ambelim proved to be the better shooters in the tiebreaker. Velroy Fernandes of Ambelim SC was adjudged the man of the match.

St Rock YC reach Martin’s Cup quarters
MARGAO: St Rock Youth Club, Calata, Majorda, defeated Rossman Cruz, Verna, 5-2 to enter the quarterfinals of the 8th Martin’s Cup football tournament organised by Betalbatim Sporting Club at the Betalbatim panchayat ground on Sunday. Oscar Braganza struck a brace for St Rock YC, while Ashley Mendes, Beevan D’Mello and Yonan D’Silva added one goal each. Clifton Rebello and Noel D’Silva scored for Rossman Cruz. Oscar Braganza was awarded the man of the match by Michael Fernandes.

Wagle HS Ponda win U-14 boys kabaddi title
MARGAO: VD & SV Wagle High School, Ponda, defeated St Joseph Convent High School, Nagoa, Verna, 34-29 in the final to lift the South District-level U-14 boys kabaddi title at the SAG Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda. The tournament was organised by the DSYA. Govt High School, Paddi, Quepem, secured third place. The winners were felicitated in the presence of their PE teacher Sandeep Pagi, APEO Salcete Bevlyn Rodrigues and tournament officials.

Goa win wheelchair cricket c'ship
PANAJI: Goa clinched the CM’s Trophy after defeating Chhattisgarh in the final of the Odisha National Wheelchair Cricket Championship 2025. The tournament featured six teams — Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. Goa sealed the title with a strong all-round performance in the final, highlighted by an unbeaten 65 by Niklesh Pednekar. The Goa squad included Gauresh Marathe, Mahesh Pagadala, Hanmanth, Nagesh Redkar, Niklesh Pednekar, captain Stany D’Souza, Moises Rodrigues, Sayad Mosik Ahmed, Shivappa Karadi, Santosh R. Gawas and Mithun Shirodkar.

Navy Children School triumph in basketball
MARGAO: Navy Children Higher Secondary School, Vasco, defeated Rosary Higher Secondary School 42-19 in the final to win the inter-zonal U-19 boys basketball tournament organised by the DSYA. Abhinav K Singh top-scored with 20 points, while Srijan Atreya added 12 points for the winners. For Rosary, Aloysius Cardozo scored 12 points. Fr Agnel Higher Secondary School secured third place after defeating Loyola Higher Secondary School 22-17.
